Tour of
Shoemaker Mine New Beltline Impressive

Recently city
officials had the privilege of touring the $200 million renovation project
at Shoemaker Mine in Benwood which was organized by the city’s Public
Safety Director and Police Chief Frank Longwell in
conjunction with Jim Mazzocca, Consol Project
Engineer. The project includes
replacing the underground rail hauling system and belt overland hauling
line with the latest amazing technology. Upgrades are on-schedule with the
previously announced early 2010 start date. |

These improvements are expected to increase production at Shoemaker Mine to approximately 6.0 million tons of coal per year. This is a massive change compared to its prior production capability. |
