SPECIAL TRIBUTE GIVEN
TO SLAIN BENWOOD SOLDIER

American Legion Post No. 46

On Thursday, November 12, 2009, Blake Brothers American Legion Post No. 46 participated in a county-wide special tribute offered for U.S. Army Spc. Julian Berisford, who was killed in the line of duty last week in Afghanistan.

motorcade Benwood officials, employees and several of its residents lined city streets to give their respects as the motorcade proceeded down South Water Street to Moundsville.

The plane carrying Berisford arrived at approximately 9:10 a.m. today at Ohio County Airport where the march in his honor began.

Benwood Mayor Edward Kuca, Jr. said “the ceremony just broke his heart. It is so sad to think he was only 25 years old with his whole life ahead of him. His heart goes out to Berisford’s family and friends.”
